A | (ECNS) -- A 13-year-old girl from Shanghai with little programming experience earned more than 18,000 yuan ($2,680) in net income from an AI-powered study tool, placing third at a 48-hour sales competition in Hangzhou. The Markethon, held from Friday to Sunday, brought together more than 50 teams. Instead of being judged by a panel, the participating AI products were ranked based on their actual sales performance. Zhu Shuhan’s tool, “Zaichang”, leverages an uploaded photo of a parent to generate a virtual study companion. When the camera detects the child using a phone or stepping away from their desk, the virtual parent will issue a voice reminder. The tool also produces a focus-tracking report upon completion of each study session. Zhu first encountered AI about a year ago and said she knows little about programming. She developed the tool's core functions in three to four days by describing her ideas to a large language model, which helped organize the logic and generate code. The product received nearly 90 orders during the competition. Most were sold through livestreams and short videos promoted by Zhu’s mother, a Douyin livestreamer. The awards night is scheduled to take place on 15 December 2025, celebrating some of the best performances and stories from the world of streaming. During the interaction, acclaimed actor Jaideep Ahlawat spoke passionately about how the OTT revolution has changed storytelling and acting, giving creators a new level of freedom. He highlighted how longer screen time and binge-watch formats have allowed characters to grow naturally. Sharing his thoughts, Jaideep said: “A new platform has opened up. Earlier you needed a 22-minute episode or a 2.5-hour film to tell a story. Now, you can tell a story in 1 hour, 2 hours, or even over 8–9 hours. That liberty that writers and directors got eventually reached actors too.” He added that longer formats allow deeper understanding and real emotional connection: “When a story is told in more detail, you learn much more about the character. The change that OTT brought was in the way stories could be told, new structure, new freedom. Cinema has its own format, but this space opened a big opportunity for us.” Explaining how theatre-like focus and intensity help actors grow, Jaideep compared long-format storytelling to performing a live play without breaks: “It’s like you enter a 3-hour play, the curtain opens and now no one can do anything. Whatever happens will be seen. You need patience and hard work. That confidence reached actors, now we can carry an 8-hour story.” Alongside Jaideep Ahlawat, Sanya Malhotra also attended the press conference, joining in the celebration of OTT’s growing impact and the excitement around this year’s awards.
